Positive Medical Transport, formerly Positive Mobility, was founded in 2006 by Ron Layne. The company started as one non-medical transport van. As Positive Mobility became more involved in the community, the outstanding need for a local ambulance provider in Highlands County became apparent.
The company put its first ambulance in service just 22 months after inception. The superior care provided by Positive Mobility to patients in the heartland helped to quickly grow the company. Our team continued to provide outstanding BLS service until March of 2009, when PMT officially began offering Advanced Life Support Transport, and changed its name to Positive Medical Transport. Today, PMT proudly serves Central Florida as the ONLY locally owned and operated transport company.
About Our Team
Robert Layne – President
Robert has been with Positive since 2006, first coming on as a driver before going to school and becoming a certified EMT in 2008. Within two years, he had gone back to school to become a certified Paramedic in 2010. With his experience within the company, he quickly took the role of General Manager in 2013, before stepping up to the role of President in 2017. Robert’s position comes with many responsibilities, including leading the staff of Positive Medical Transport in daily business, contracting, and much more. Robert continues to have an open door policy.
Brandy Layne – Office/Billing Manager
Brandy has been with Positive from the beginning, starting out as a driver and dispatcher in 2006. She became an EMT and Dispatch Supervisor in 2010. In the same year, Brandy started working with the medical billing and accounts receivables, before receiving her CAC Medical Billing Certificate in 2016. Brandy has experience in most every department at Positive and in 2018 took on the role of Office and Billing Manager. She is always ready to handle everyday questions from employees and customers with a smile.
Kim Bagford – Chief Financial Officer
Kim Bagford joined the Positive Medical Team in 2008 as the Executive Assistant to the CEO. Originally from Ohio she relocated to Florida to help in the continued growth of Positive Medical. She holds more than 30 years of experience in payroll and business finance, which is essential in her current role as Chief Financial Officer.
Corey Amundsen – Community Liaison
Corey Amundsen has been with Positive Medical Transport since 2015, He began his career as a Wheelchair Van Operator and quickly advanced to an Emergency Medical Technician in 2016. He is now in the final stages of completing Paramedic Training. During his time at Positive Medical Transport he has worked in the Marketing Department, became an EVOC Instructor and was appointed as a Field Training Officer. He currently serves as the company’s Community Liaison.
James “Junior” Watley – Fleet Supervisor
Junior joined Positive Medical Transport in 2017 as a Mechanic, having 12 years experience in Air Conditioning and a history of auto maintenance. He was quickly noticed by upper management and promoted to Fleet Supervisor in 2018. He is responsible for making sure that our vehicles are in safe operating condition.
Meghan Deatherage – Human Resources
Meghan started with Positive Medical Transport in 2018 as a dispatcher, before taking on the role of Human Resources. She is responsible for overseeing the new hire process, organizing current employee files and seeing that their credentialing is up to date. She is always available to help guide employees with the day to day questions that arise, and eager to assist others with random office duties to keep a smooth running office.
Christopher Martin – Dispatch Supervisor
Chris became a Positive Medical Transport team member in 2013, as an overnight dispatcher. In 2018 he would be promoted to Dispatch Supervisor, were he is responsible for making sure that all calls are answered in a timely matter and staying in contact with facilities about any issues or concerns. Chris would come to us after his 4 years of service in United States Air Force as part of the security forces for the K-9 unit. He was responsible for securing the convoy routes from roadside bombs. During his stint in the USAF he spent 2 years in Iraq as part of the Operation Iraq Freedom, and earned an accommodation medal for his service during this time.
Iesha Moore – Driver Supervisor
Iesha has been in the healthcare field for over 14 years, working as a CNA and phlebotomist. She joined Positive Medical Transport in 2017, as a driver. Due to her hard work and determination she became a Field Training Officer. It was only a few short months before she was promoted to Driver Supervisor. She is a certified PASS Instructor and Emergency Medical Responder. Iesha is committed to being a supportive supervisor for all of her drivers, building and growing a stronger team.
Robert Fry – BLS Supervisor
Robert started with Positive Medical Transport in 2016 as a BLS driver after getting his First Responder Certificate from Polk State College. A year later he earned his EMT License, within a very short time he would be promoted to Field Training Officer. In 2019 he began to take on the role of Polk Supervisor, where he leads his team in a confident light.
